How to be productive with your time

The clocks have gone back but you can still spring forward. Whoop! How much do we love this extra hour today. I don’t know about you but I love it. We get so much more completed and I get extra time for me, fun time with the family, catch up on chores and I’m left feeling great.

How are you spending your time?

Creating an extra hour per day isn’t as big a challenge as you may think. It’s possible with high performance habits and when used, are effective immediately.

Procrastination is one of the biggest reasons we don’t get more done. Often occurs due to a combination of factors such as lack of motivation, fear of failure, poor time management, or a tendency to seek immediate rewards. It’s a behaviour influenced by our emotion and habits. People may procrastinate to avoid tasks that are perceived as difficult or unpleasant, leading to a delay in getting started. Understanding the root cause can help in finding effective strategies to overcome procrastination.

Poor time management can lead to increased stress, missed deadlines, lower productivity, decreased quality of work, and strained relationships due to lack of time for loved ones. Additionally, it can hinder personal and professional growth, limit career opportunities, and lead to burnout. Developing effective time management skills is crucial for overall well-being and success.

Here are my top 5 high-performance tips

1. Make it happen: Think of a previous time when you got things done. What was happening and how did you achieve a great output. Follow this way of working again.

2. Set Clear Goals: Define your short-term and long-term goals to give your tasks purpose and direction.

3. Time Blocking: Allocate specific time blocks for tasks. Avoid multitasking; focus on one task during each block.

4. Prioritise Tasks: Identify the most important tasks and focus on completing them first. Then, take action.

5. Learn to Say No: Don’t overcommit yourself. This is in your personal and professional career. Stay focussed on what is important for you and what you want to accomplish.
